It means that a person feels from the place where he lives rathen than fron he was born. ( Though I don´t know if that is the case)
English?

He encontrado estas variantes en español, pero en inglés estoy a dos velas...
El hombre donde nace, el buey donde pace.
La cabra donde nace, el buey donde pace.
El buey no es de donde nace, sino de donde pace.
El buey donde pace no donde nace.

Literally you could go like this,
Man is from where he is born, ox is from where he grazes...

In my case, while I live in California, I still feel myself unquestionably from Spain... and I know people in LA who have a very obvious Madrid accent, and they will never lose it, even if they have been here for 20 years...

At any rate, hopefully Perikles or Poli get inspired and remember an equivalent saying in English...

These expressions seem all cool... although I'd think Perikles' one is the one that seems conceptually closer... (?)
