I tried to use the tomisimo dictionary and also google but both cannot give the meaning in English. So I wonder if anyone here knows the meaning of this word "patazas" in English.:thinking:

The word is "pata" (leg) with the suffix "-azo, -a", so in English would be something like "big legs" or "big paws" or "big feet" probably with a bit of a derogatory connotation.

1 Sufijo con que se forman nombres de acción violenta o de golpe: ‘arañazo, porrazo, portazo, cañazo’.
2 Forma también aumentativos: ‘perrazo’. A veces, estos aumentativos son despectivos: ‘cazurrazo, cochinazo’. Otras, son despectivos o aumentativos afectuosos: ‘buenazo, picaronazo, madraza, padrazo’. En Hispam. se usa mucho aplicado a adjetivos con un matiz ponderativo: ‘valientazo’.

"Tienen un espiritu delicado y unas patazas que no le caben en ningun sitio"

Parece que hable de un perro de raza grande (como mi perra de cachorrita, que le salían las patas por todas partes :D ). :thinking: :)

No entiendo muy bien qué quieres decir con una palabra idiomática. :thinking:

-azo/a es un aumentativo que a veces tiene sentido despectivo, pero en ocasiones resulta cariñoso:

Mi perra tenía unas patazas cuando era cachorrita que parecía que no supiera qué hacer con ellas (cariñoso).

¡Saca tus patazas del comedor, que acabo de fregar! (enfado).

Este electricista es un manazas. Vino a arreglar un enchufe y me dejó sin electricidad durante un día entero (enfadado y despectivo).

If you have more context would be better, but seems to refer to someone like "a discriminating/discerning being [spirit]" or someone who is "refined" enough to be able to see differences, nuances... that type of idea... but then again, while (inside, as a soul or spirit) the guy is like that, then he has "big" legs, in a way that it is physically clumsy...

I would say that describe somebody like Don Quixote (inside) but like Sancho Panza on the "outside" (or rather like Pau Gasol... for the big legs!) (Jokingly).

That is my take... without any more context... ;) :) (I may be way off too!)

I think you are actually on the mark on this. In my sparse understanding of Spanish, I thought there was irony in the phrase, because it says at first of having a delicate spirit then contrasted with the "unas patazas". I'll try to find that site and write the whole context here if I can.

Look what I've found. It's about Sagittarius. Then "patazas" means "big feet" here (a bit despective, since "patas" are used for animals). :)
