Cool - chévere

Cool - chévere

Hola amigos, me pregunto cómo se puede decir "(they were) pretty cool" o "the other day." Se usaría "estuvieron bastante chéveres" y "el otro día"? El segundo se parece fácil, pero no recuerdo.

Both phrases make sense, except that I am familiar with another word for cool. In Central America, macanudo is more common. 'Estuvieron' implies a temporary condition, completed. If 'they' are characteristically 'cool,' I would say '¡Qué chéveres que son/eran!'

Hola......

Pretty cool - chévere, de aquellas, por la maceta, a toda maquina, padre,

Only a few of the "slang" words for cool..........there might be a gazillion more. Who knows!!!

Hola:

Pensé que "a toda maquina" significaba at full speed. ¿Significa cool?

Gracias

Voy a responder por que por alguna razón no vi este hilo en febrero. :)

In México, the two best ways of saying cool are padre (very common, and almost everyone uses it) and chido (very common, but it sounds a lot more slangy than padre-- adults won't use this.)
.. were (pretty) cool = ¡Qué chido! / ¡Qué padre!
the other day = el otro día / un día

Here in Spain if something is cool, you can say es güay :cool:o como mola.

I've heard of güay, but what is the second thing you said? "o como mola"?

  • ¿Te mola mi novia?
  • Cómo mola comer pepinillos con anchoas.
  • Tienes un coche molón.
  • Qué tía más molona.
  • ¡Esto es molonudo!
However, I find these expressions a little childish.

¿Eso es una indirecta?:D
