Hello from Asia

These five things define me: Languages (and Linguistics), Travel, Sport, Music and the Outdoors.

Growing up I moved around a fair bit. This instilled in me an insatiable wanderlust which still remains. I speak English and Mandarin (though the latter not as frequently or fluently as I would like) and can get by in halting Cantonese. When I was 13, I picked up my first foreign language at school - Japanese. Unfortunately, I hadn't yet developed an appreciation for it nor the concept of multilingualism then, thus my sport and music took precedence.

A few years ago, I picked up German after a brief stint in Germany where I fell hard for the people and the place. Following that, I lived in Thailand for a while passively immersed in the language. It wasn't until I returned to Singapore that I realised I wanted to pursue it more actively and have started studying it slowly on my own. In addition to these, I plan to backpack across South America come 2015 and would like to develop some Spanish competency before then. This will be my first foray into the romantic branch, lord knows how it'll go, but I hope it will open many new doors.

I love meeting amazing new people and exchanging ideas keep me alive and excited. So, hello once again!
