Sosegar el ánimo -> tranquilizarse.
It's often said when people have been having an argument or are about to have one and they calm down to re-start a conversation in a less aggressive tone.

[Long explanation for English speakers. Angélica doesn't need such explanation
![]() Angélica: It's not the same "calmar los ánimos" than "sosegar el ánimo". From an everyday point of view they could be swapped in an oral context, though the second one uses to be an euphemistic -to avoid pointing fingers- or ironic replacement for the first one. In the first one "ánimos" is more related with "animosidad" (anger, hostility and ill disposition; ill predisposed humor and clashing tempers -"ánimos"). In the second one "animo" is more "soul-like", like a thermometer for psychical activity.

The plural may be more specific for sure, but both kind of expressions can be used in the situation I mentioned. maybe it's just a regional "bad habit".

To appease the spirit.
Un ánimo desasosiegado es un ánimo turbado.

Ops, la única 'i' de 'desasosiegado' se escribe en rojo y yo lo hice en negro.
Pido mil disculpas. Buen domingo a todos.
