The jh as in Jhon and Jhonathan is very common in Colombia, and I have seen it in Mexico. In the USA, I know an anglo named Jhones. I thought it may be of Welsh origin, but checked the Cardiff phonebook and saw no Jhones'.

A mí me parece también que es por ignorancia. Conozco muchos casos de nombres extranjeros escritos con errores, porque no es fácil recordar dónde van las letras "exóticas". ;(
