¿Cómo se dice..?

"I can't remember how it came up in conversation whether it was me or Sara that suggested it but one of suggested that you could help out one evening with the teenagers. That you could do a workshop with them."

"No puedo recordar como surgió en la conversación si fue yo o Sara la que lo sugirió pero una de las dos sugirió que pudieras ayudar con los adolescentes una noche. Que pudieras hacer una taller con ellos."

Supposing "you" is one person.

-Who is it?
-It's me, Sara

-¿Quíen es?
-Soy yo, Sara.

-¿Podría hablar con Sara?
-Ella habla

-Could I speak to Sara?
-Speaking/This is she.

Ok gracias
I use "fui" even though I'm saying it could have been me or Sara (my friend) that suggested it?

Also why is it "podrías" and not "pudieras" when the rest is in the past? "sugirió"
Thank you

... no sé si fui yo o Sara la que sugirió ...
... no sé si fue Sara o fui yo la que sugirió ...
... no sé quién fue, Sara o yo, la que sugirió ...

To use subjunctive some hesitancy should be included, like the polite manner: "... sugirió que quizás puedas/pudieras...". Your use of subjunctive was suggesting -depending on voice tone and/or glances- a recrimination, or lack of faith about the subject performing the suggested action.

As in every single use of a tense from the subjunctive mood, you have to think why the action is not being performed.
