When to use Está or Es?

I always get confused with these 2, and I usually use Está incorrectly.
When do I need to use the word Está, and could I have an example of this?

Sí,
Estar is used for conditions that can change- dirty car, rainy day, etc.

Ser is used for permanent conditions- nationality, material, color, etc.

Hope this helps.
