On/in the list
On a bookshop website, after logging in, I went to PERSONAL DETAILS, and I clicked an arrow sign, which cascaded down a list. On/in the list, however, there was not the name of the branch I wanted to renew my card in.
ON/IN, which one should I use?

Either one works. I would prefer 'on', but there are times when 'in' is more appropriate. There is a slight nuance of difference that is hard to describe.
The name wasn't on the list. The name wasn't in the list.
