I would add 'las mensualidades del' to your translation to make it more clear. She stopped making the monthly (I suppose) payments.

Sí, Rusty, es tal cual. No quiso seguir pagando, sólo que no nos cuentan si se trataba de mensualidades, pero se supone que un préstamo se devuelve en cuotas mensuales.
