This chapter is about adverbs. I'm not exactly sure how I see that "adverbs" applies to this exercise.... Anyway, the exercise involves answering the following personal questions. My answers are in bold type. I have also indicated some specific questions I have in italics.

1) ¿Prefieres despertarte tarde o temprano?
Previero despertarme temprano.

2) ¿Qué hiciste ayer por la noche?
No hice nada. Estaba enferma.

3) ¿Guardas tu dinero siempre en el banco?
Sí, guardo mi dinero en el banco.

4) ¿Crees en los cuentos de hadas todavía?
No, no los creo todavía.
Q: Is my use of direct object "los" correct here?
Q: Are there other ways that "todavía" could be placed in the sentence that I wrote?

5) ¿Qué haces siempre los lunes?
Los lunes tengo una cita con mi tutora de español.
Q: Should it be "tengo citas" instead?

6) ¿Tienes bastante confianza en tus ideas?
Sí, tengo bastante confianza en mis ideas.

7) ¿Estás ya lista para irte a dormir?
No estoy lista para irme a dormir. Sólo es mediodía.
Q: I didn't really know how to say "it is noon"... Is it "es" or "son"?

8) ¿Bebes café después de cenar?
Nunca jamás bebo café después de cenar.

9) ¿Qué haces antes de salir de casa?
Antes de salgo de casa, me preparo para trabajar.
Q: Does "antes de" need to be followed by an infinitive? Or is a conjugated verb okay like I wrote it?

10) ¿Te gustan mucho o poco las películas de ciencia-ficción?
Me gusta muy poco la mayoría de las películas de ciencia-ficción. Pero hay algunas que me gustan mucho.

Los lunes tengo una cita con mi tutora de español. Where is "siempre"???
Q: Should it be "tengo citas" instead? No, a regular habit is expressed in singular. Unless you want to differenciate appointments with specific characteristics.

6) ¿Tienes bastante confianza en tus ideas?
Sí, tengo bastante confianza en mis ideas.

7) ¿Estás ya lista para irte a dormir?
No estoy lista para irme a dormir. Sólo es mediodía. Where is "ya"???
Q: I didn't really know how to say "it is noon"... Is it "es" or "son"? Singular.

8) ¿Bebes café después de cenar?
Nunca jamás bebo café después de cenar. (Fine, but so much emphasis? For this kind of sentences, "nunca" or "jamás" would suffice.)

9) ¿Qué haces antes de salir de casa?
Antes de salgo???? de casa, me preparo para trabajar.
Q: Does "antes de" need to be followed by an infinitive? Or is a conjugated verb okay like I wrote it? I think you have the answer in the way the question is made.

10) ¿Te gustan mucho o poco las películas de ciencia-ficción?
Me gusta muy poco la mayoría de las películas de ciencia-ficción. Pero hay algunas que me gustan mucho.

In answer to your query about the relevance of adverbs, I have put adverbs (or adverbial phrases) in bold.

I didn't realize that I needed to include "siempre" in my answer... Does it sound better with it? That isn't necessarily the case in English...

4) ¿Crees en los cuentos de hadas todavía?
No, no los creo todavía.

I always get confused about which prepositions are covered by a verb or by a direct/indirect object pronoun...

Q: Are there other ways that "todavía" could be placed in the sentence that I wrote? No, because it's a negative answer. It should be "ya" instead of "todavía". "Sí, todavía creo en los cuentos de hadas"/ "No, ya no creo en los cuentos de hadas".
So, "todavía creo" means "I still believe" and "ya no creo" means "I don't believe anymore"? So should my answer be: "No, ya no creo en ellos."?

5) ¿Qué haces siempre los lunes?
Los lunes tengo una cita con mi tutora de español. Where is "siempre"???
Same as #4.....

7) ¿Estás ya lista para irte a dormir?
No estoy lista para irme a dormir. Sólo es mediodía. Where is "ya"???
Again, like #4 - I didn't realize that the answer required a "ya". In English, it wouldn't be necessary.

8) ¿Bebes café después de cenar?
Nunca jamás bebo café después de cenar. (Fine, but so much emphasis? For this kind of sentences, "nunca" or "jamás" would suffice.)
Even if I really, really, really avoid coffee any time after noon ... especially dinner ... because I would never be able to sleep....

Perikles - Thanks. I know which are the adverbs ... they're all taken from the list on the previous page. But I just didn't feel like the exercise itself pushed me to manipulate the adverbs in the sentences. Many of them just required me to rewrite the question in answer form..... It could have been an exercise in any of the other chapters, not necessarily specific to adverbs....

@Lou Ann: Necessary or not, your exercise is about adverbs, and they must be included in how you answer the questions, or there is no exercise at all. You still have to make up the right sentences, btw.

As for the emphasis, that's fine... I just wanted to make sure you were aware of what "nunca jamás" would be.

Remember that I studied Spanish in Argentina. They always prefer the dramatic answer. Why say "nunca" when you could say "nunca jamás" and be even more dramatic!!

You surely were in Belgrano or Palermo. That's the problem with those districts. Remember Belgrano is not Argentina.

Los lunes siempre tengo cita con mi tutora de español. - ugh! I have such a problem with when to use and when not to use an article....

7) ¿Estás ya lista para irte a dormir?
No estoy lista aún para irme a dormir. Sólo es mediodía. - is there a difference between todavía and aún in this sentence?

9) ¿Qué haces antes de salir de casa?
Antes de salir de casa, siempre me aseguro de que llevo mis llaves. - did this question want some one specific action instead of the general happenings? How do you know that?

1) Oops! Sorry, d'oh! I was reading in German (Vater, vier, previero -prefi:ro-)
4) yes, no longer, not any more
5) "tener + noun" works like a nominal phrase, hence no article is needed. If you say "tengo la cita" you'd be referring to a specific appointment, not the appointment you have regularly. "la cita" would work there as sort of "piece of appointment", so to speak.
7) both are fine
9) just for the sake of using adverbs
