Ahora, hoy, ahorita, ahora mismo - México vs Cuba vs the rest of the 21 Spanish speak

Vivo entre mexicanos y cubanos y
parece que hay un poco de confusión entre las palabras
ahora, ahorita y ahora mismo. Por los mexicanos "ahora"
es iqual que decir "hoy". Mientras por los cubanos ahora es como
decir "now" in English as opposed to today. Today as in all day.
Anybody else ha notado esto?

Ya me voy ahora. Ya me voy ahorita. Ya me voy ahora mismo.
Ya me voy hoy. Ya me voy dentro de poco. I'm leaving right now!



Ahora = now -
Ahorita = a little bit later
Ahora mismo = right this minute(second) (Right now)

Ahora = "today" in Mexico
ahorita=que en Mexico? In a little while?

For a Mexican those structures sound strange. "Ya" and "ahora" together is too much emphasis, it sounds pleonastic. We'd say:

· Ya me voy. -> I'm leaving. (Daily speech, appropriate for any register)
· Me voy ahorita. -> I'm leaving in a moment (Colloquial, but not inappropriate if said in a more or less formal context)
· Me voy ahora mismo. -> I'm leaving right now (formal speech)
· Me voy ahora. -> I'm leaving now (daily speech) / I'm leaving today (colloquial and may be felt kind of inappropriate in formal context.)

Our use of ahorita is quite idiosyncratic. Sometimes it can mean "right now", sometimes it means "in a little while" and sometimes it can imply a much longer time.


Mamá: Ve a la tienda a comprar pan.
Hijo: Ahorita. ( cuando yo quiera)
(Una hora más tarde) Mamá: ¿Ya trajiste el pan?
Hijo: No, ahorita voy. ( no voy a ir)

(En el mercado) Clienta: Señor, ¿me da un kilo de mandarinas?
Vendedor (atendiendo a alguien más): Sí, señora, ahorita. ( en un momento)
(En cuanto termina de despachar a la otra persona, le vende el kilo de mandarinas a la clienta que lo pidió.)

Se rompió la cadena de la bicicleta. Ahorita la arreglamos. ( en este instante). ¿Ves? Ya está.

Esto tiene sentido para mí. Es lo que he observado durante mis muchos años relacionados con el español de México. "Ahora", ¿qué pasa con otros países de habla hispana con respecto a esto?
