¿me pueden ayudar a traducir lo siguiente en español?

The darkest hour is just before the dawn

Mi intento,

La hora mas oscura es justo antes del amanecer

Es correcto?

Sí es correcto, pero no sé si se los usa como un dicho. En la sección de
idioms aquí en Tomísimo, lo traduce en este modo: no hay mal que por bien no venga.-- Francamente no creo que tiene el mismo significado. Vamos a ver si algunos foreros dan con un refrán mejor.

Hay muchas maneras de decir esto. Además de lo que has escrito, añado:

Justo antes del amanecer es el momento más oscuro. (es la hora ...)
La noche es más oscura justo antes del amanecer.
Lo más oscuro de la noche es antes de amanecer.
Nunca el cielo está más oscuro que cuando va a amanecer.
Cuando está más oscuro, brillan las estrellas.
Las cosas suelan empeorar antes de mejorar.
Por más oscuro que parezca el camino siempre van tiempos mejores.
Después de la tempestad viene la calma. (llega la calma)

In Britain that would usually translate as "It's an ill wind that blows nobody any good!" - a traditional English proverb.

But "no hay mal que por bien no venga" means that all the bad things always bring something good... I think that's not the same idea of that English proverb.

No hay mal que por bien no venga = There is no evil from which (some) good doesn't come.

Absolutely identical in meaning to "It's an ill wind that blows nobody any good", i.e. "Someone will benefit from even the worst situation".

It's metaphorical not meteorological!

Who said Americans (or Mexicanas) don't 'get' irony?

I couldn't understand its meaning then. Thank you for the reply.

Still, when we say there's always something good inside a bad thing, the good aspect comes without anyone looking for it.
For the idea that someone will take advantage of a bad incident, I'd prefer "A río revuelto, ganancia de pescadores", which implies the will of finding a profit from a bad situation.

Mmmm... all my life I thought they had a tendency to be more silvery than coppery... and I take the Clark Kent's irony is due to the fact that he is from another planet...

It's regional JP. For instance, in Las Vegas they have a tendency to be brassy.
