I am a beginning Spanish speaker. = Soy principiante de español.
I'm learning Spanish. = Aprendo español.
How do you say ...? (Actually, "How does one say ...?") = ¿Cómo se dice ...?

Por motivos que desconozco, siempre tiendo a decir:

Principiante en español.
Aprendiz de español.

"Principiante de español" y "principiante en español" son ambas correctas; supongo que el matiz de significado hace que "de" se refiera a la materia que se estudia, y "en" a la lengua.
