bomba
La película fue una bomba.
Does this mean a great success? A program from Argentina indicates this. In English a bomb when referred to a movie or book means the opposite. By the way, in recent years, the bomb, when used to describe a work, means the best.

I agree with you that in my variety of US English saying something was a bomb is the opposite of saying it was very successful.
However, on wordreference.com definitions of the word "bomb" indicate that in Britain it means that it was a hit, or very good, or successful. Last edited by wrholt; October 16, 2026 at 09:03 PM.
