It sounds like common ground to me. A point of agreement.

Again, it depends on the context.
brain-storming session, feedback session, idea-sharing session, collaboration, exchange, etc.

So are we talking about puesto or puesta here?
This was exactly what I was referring to.

I don't know exactly that you want to say, but for me the word Puesto en comun sound weir, I can say, tu tienes un puesto comun, I mean, you have a job very common, I don't know if you can use this example for your oration.

Without more context, it's hard to say what this means. Jane, did you hear it or read it? Here are some ideas: (puesto/puesta being the past participle of poner)

poner ideas en común/poner en común ideas = to brainstorm
poner algo en común = to put something out there
poner en común = to contribute, to join, to combine

That would make sense for having a job in common with someone or sharing a job/office/placement/stand

Tengo un puesto en común con x = I share the stand with x.

Sorry, Crotalito, I was responding to Jane's question. I may not have seen your response while I was composing mine.

I already provided the English translation Jane was asking about and was just making sure she got the right Spanish translation.

Thanks guys, I was actually referring to a didactic technique, an approach to teaching, so I guess Rusty and David´s response answered my question perfectly well.
Thanks everyone!
