Coger - common verb
Hello!
Since when did the verb coger take such a dirty translation A friend of mine told me that I was not speaking properly around her kids when I asked one of the kids to "Coge a tu hermanita de la mano para cruzar al calle." She told me to use agarrar. I have always used the verb coger for practically anything and was never to suggest anything so rude or improper. It's the base word for recoger, escoger and others? What's up with that? In the dictionary the word is described as to take. Suggestions?
