Hola,

Puse esa cesta ahí para que los empleados pongan desechar los malos papeles, pero aún los desechan al piso. Nadie me escuchan, y me pongo enfadar.

Ayer conocía un cestero que estaba saliendo la cestería al llevar una cestada de cestas pequeñas (basket full of small baskets)

Tengo una cesta en el cuarto para huespedes. En esta cesta están toallas de baño adicionales.

Mi pregunta: ¿Debe estar "toallas de baño adicionales" o debe estar "toallas adicionales de baño"? ¿Están más equivocados en mi frase?

Yo diría "toallas de repuesto"

También está el cesto de la ropa sucia o la cesta de la compra. A veces en masculino y otras en femenino. Cuestión de costumbres

¿Entonces ... no se necesita decir "baño" ... solamente "toallas de repuesto"?

En casa no, porque sólo tienes toallas en el baño, salvo que tengas dos ó más baños o un baño y un aseo (o más) y quieras especificar: "toallas del baño de invitados / del aseo / del baño grande", etc. En la cocina se usan los "paños / trapos de cocina"

También puedes distinguir el tipo de toalla (de menor a mayor):

Toalla de tocador.
Toalla de manos.
Toalla de ducha.
Toalla de baño.

You're welcome But you can say "las toallas del baño", too, There's nothing wrong in this sentence, it's just that in common speech you don't need to specify so much

Canasto o canasta me suena a mi como más grande que un cesto, pero debe ser lo mismo.

También encestar en la cesta o la canasta en un partido de baloncesto.

Como los chilenos somos conocidos porque usamos mucho el diminutivo, entonces usaríamos una canastita o un canastito.

Cuando se habla de Basketball decimos que encestó un balón por ejemplo.

Cesta la usamos pero no mucho...

Sí, encestar un balón en la cesta o en la canasta, ¿no?

También está la canastilla para el bebé, antes de nacer, con la ropita y lo que necesite.

Have you ever heard of ..... chiquihüíte.... this word also means basket but I think it is smaller than a regular clothes basket.

La cesta es más pequeña y la palabra es más larga. nO hay sentido

Si entiendo bien, un chiquihuite (sin diéresis) es una canasta tejida de palma, sin asa y con tapa. En algunos lugares se le dice así al tortillero (una cesta o caja redonda pequeña para poner las tortillas calientes en la mesa).
