Considering the literal meaning of cuajo, the most accurate translation is

You don't have the spunk.

This used to mean spirit, mettle, courage. Unfortunately, it is tricky using it today because it has taken on a vulgar meaning. (*sigh* everything does that, in the end.)

Yes it's due to all those tv series I tellya...

I think I've hear this word 'spunk' also used in more positive senses, such as e.g. +- equivalent to 'zest' or 'panache' .. Is it correct to be using it that way too?

Yes spunk can be positive and it may be more postive than the other terms, but all the terms are positive. It doen't mean panache however.

Another term is moxie.
