Question Visceral

Visceral (from Random House Unabridged)
4. characterized by or proceeding from instinct rather than intellect: a visceral reaction.
5.
characterized by or dealing with coarse or base emotions; earthy; crude: a visceral literary style.

The content is so visceral and the action so intense...
(talking about a movie)

I would tend to understand definition 4 above, in this context, talking about about a film with "visceral content".

What do the natives speakers get with this sentence?

What would be a good translation into Spanish?

("Visceral" does not quite work, as per Moliner 2 Se aplica a un sentimiento intenso y arraigado: ‘Odio visceral’. También, a la persona vehemente que se deja llevar por este tipo de sentimientos.

Maybe, El contenido es tan brutal y la acción tan intensa...

I visceral reaction is a reaction from your gut rather than your head. No thought is required. A gut reaction.

Thank you, Poli...
Would it work to say,
El contenido es tan instintivo y la acción tan intensa... ?
Do you get in the original sentence that, "the content is full of gut reactions, instinctive reactions, and the action is so intense that..."?
What type of movie would you expect from that little 'description'?

Well, in Spain we say, "cada día se aprende algo" (every day one learns something [new])

The Spanish word, "visceral" is also a little bit highbrow... and has different connotations... (My uncle surprised me one time, while talking to my Dad about the priest at the end of the TV programming at night, saying something of this sort, "Me produce un asco visceral", even when he was a rather 'good' Catholic.) (A similar expression to considering something or someone "revolting".) Oh, well. What can I say. In the context I am posing the question, has a more positive connotation, even if it has to do with 'instinctive guts reaction'...

I would tend to assume the less metaphorical definition (probably 1): there are lots of guts (and other blood and gore) on screen.

Sin duda es un víscera... habrá que hacer de tripas corazón y sobreponerse a las adversidades... Creo que lo que dice pjt33 a renglón seguido es lo que parece ajustarse mejor... será una película con mucho hígado, corazón, tripas, y duodenos...

Hey, what you say sounds actually spot-on!
Bastante "sangrienta" quizá se ajuste...
¡¡Gracias Chileno y Pjt33!!
