La gana era tal
Hi all,
I am just learning spanish. Could anyone help me for the following? 1. La gana era tal, que se lo tuvo que recoger del concesionario un compañero de oficina, porque él aún no tenía carné. 2. Mientras escribo esto, la nueva familia está en algún lugar en la ceremonia de nombramiento (bautizo a la hindú) del bebé, una cosita arrugada, pelona y sorprendentemente seria a quien no quedará otro camino que el de ser un cielo. Thanks. |

These sentences seem too complicated for a beginner, but what they basically say is:
1) He was so eager, that a co-worker had to pick it up from the [I assume] car store, because he didn't have a license [I assume... it could also be an identity card] yet. 2) As I'm writing this, the new family is somewhere in the name ceremony [there must be some name in English, but I don't know it] (hindu baptism) of the baby, a wrinkled little thing, bald and surprisingly serious, whose only fate will be to become a real sweetie.

Hi CrOtALiTo,
Thanks for the reply....... OK. I just needed the English explaination....... For the first spanish sentence, now I can make it out. But for the second one, what is the translation and what does it mean? I could not understand the sentence of "...... a quien no quedará otro camino que el de ser un cielo." in the following sentence. "Mientras escribo esto, la nueva familia está en algún lugar en la ceremonia de nombramiento (bautizo a la hindú) del bebé, una cosita arrugada, pelona y sorprendentemente seria a quien no quedará otro camino que el de ser un cielo." Can you help me now......? Thanks. |

Thanks Angelica, Poli, Chileno for your kind replies........I got it somewhat.......
Then, I tried to translate the following sentence...... "Si se hubiesen encontrado indicios de amor el enlace se hubiese roto, ya que éste se ve como una enajenación que impide la elección de la pareja adecuada." Is the following correctly translated? "If love had found evidence of the link had been broken, as it is seen as an alienation that prevents the choice of the right partner." If it so, is the following the meaning of the above sentence? "The link had been broken. If love is the reason for that broken, then that alienation prevents the choosing of the right partner" Kindly help. Thanks. |
