To print (as in with a printer)

打篮球
dǎ lán qíu
To play basketball

打乒乓球
dǎ pīng pāng qíu
To play ping pong

打电话
dǎ diàn huà
To make a phone call

打游戏
dǎ yóu xì
To play videogames
Note: 游戏 (yóu xì) just means “games”. The use of 打 (dǎ) signifies “video games”. For normal games, you would just say 玩 (wán), which means “to play”

打扰
dá rǎo
Disturb, bother

打破
dǎ pò
To break, shatter, crack. (NOT used in the sense that a computer does not work anymore. Only used for physical breaks)

打败
dǎ bài
To Defeat

打乱
dǎ luàn
To mess everything up.

you can also add the other sports, tennis, baseball, football and all that. soccer, though, uses ti, first tone on the i. Right? and thanks for those verbs!!!!

soccer (football in other countries)

足球 tī zú qiú
play soccer
you can't use dǎ because dǎ uses your hand and when playing soccer, you use your feet instead.


棒球bàng qiú
baseball

网球wǎng qiú
tennis

橄榄球gǎn lǎn qiú
football (American)

gǎn lǎn means olive.

gǎn (gán) lǎn means olive.
As in most words, the third tone becomes the second tone because it is awkward and difficult to say two third-tone words in a row.

Your cellphone is UPstairs.

My LEFT hand hurts a lot.

电影院就在右边。
Diàn yǐng yuàn jìu zài yòu biān.
The movie theatre is just on the RIGHT.

里(面)
lǐ (miàn/miān)
In(side)

陈先生在客厅里。
Chén xiān shěng/shēng zài kē/kè tīng lǐ.
Mr. Chen is IN the living room.

里面很脏
lǐ miàn/miān hěn zāng
It is very dirty INSIDE.

外(面)
wài (miàn)
Out(side)

小狗在外面。
Xiáo gǒu zài wài miàn.
The little dog is outside.

他刚从国外回来。
Tā cóng hǎi wài huí lái/lài de.
He just returned from overseas (OUT of country).

Haha, yea it's my name, too (As my dad is from Hong Kong, my name is Anglicized as the Cantonese form of it). I just used it because it's like "Mr. Smith" in English, just an example.

Anybody have any suggestions or requests for the next lesson?
Anything; a single word, a theme, etc.
