Cockfighting
I got a message a while back from someone needing help with Spanish vocabulary associated with cockfighting (peleas de gallos). Some vocab. needed:
rooster - gallo cockfight - pelea de gallos ? gaffs (small knives strapped to the rooster's legs) - navajas? spurs (fighting roosters usually have their spurs cut off) - espolones? comb (feathers on the top of the head) - __________ If you know any of this vocabulary, or anything else that's relevant, I'd be appreciative. David. Of course, the Wikipedia entries provides some info, but not all the vocabulary. Cockfight Pelea de gallos

I think it's OK
http://blogs.laverdad.es/blackblog/2...peleas-gallos- in other place "Les quitaban las plumas, les amputaban la cresta, les limaban los espolones y les untaban el pecho con vinagre para que el tono rojizo les hiciera más atractivos. " saludos ![]() Last edited by sosia; April 03, 2008 at 02:57 AM. |

Thanks Rusty. It also appears that the cockpit of an airplane is actually derived from this grisly "sport".

In boxing, kick-fighting and wrestling, the contestants don't usually die. For this reason I can't get into bullfighting at all.
