Direct object pronouns
I am trying to rewrite sentences with direct object pronouns. Also how would I write 4 so it includes grande. Vamos a comprarlas grandes? Not sure where grande goes. And for 2 do I need to include nuestros? Debemos llamarlos nuestros?

I think you have beginner's problems with DO pronouns. A lot of times it is taught as if lo and los are always the answer. Unfortunately, it's not. I can testify to a lot of teachers just letting students get away with using lo for everything then fixing it later. That really is a dumb idea on their part IMO.. but anyway. If you say vamos a comprar UNAS maletas grandes, you have to say vamos a comprarLAS since they are LAS maletas, not LOS maletas. Same with familia, which is LA familia, so that would be no la veo
For 2 and 4, since this is just an exercise, you would not include that. In spoken Spanish, you'd have to exercise your judgement and determine whether or not to use a DO, or say the full sentence. For example, we should call our uncles/aunts -- if I just walked up to you and said "we should call them", you would say what the hell are you talking about? Who is them? In Spanish, it's the same. You must specify just like in English. Perhaps if we were talking, and I said to you "Nuestros tíos acaban de volver.. debemos llamarlos" it would make sense, since I introduced who "los" was. I hope that makes sense.. but as Rusty said for this exercise just reduce it to the los/las |
