Gozar el favor

My dictionary says gozar de for enjoy:

gozar [A4] verbo intransitivo: los críos gozan cuando vamos a la playa the children enjoy it o love it when we go to the beach; parece que goza con la desgracia ajena he seems to revel in o take pleasure in other people's misfortunes; goza viendo a su nieto jugar she enjoys watching her grandson play, she gets a lot of pleasure from watching her grandson play; gozar de algo to enjoy something; goza de perfecta salud he enjoys perfect health; sus discos gozan de gran popularidad her records enjoy great popularity; goza de una buena posición he has a good position

Gozar del favor (de alguien)

Goza del favor del jefe (the boss favours her)
La marca goza del favor del público (people prefer it to others)

@Perikles: "Gozar de algo" is also to benefit from something; like in "gozar de buena salud", "gozar de popularidad", "gozar de una posición".

"Favor" here is understood as a preferential treatment or a prerrogative.

· El yerno del rey goza del favor de su suegro, por eso no lo enjuician.
· Gómez siempre se ganó el favor de los poderosos, y llegó a convertirse en un político muy influyente.
