Brand new to Spanish!

I've decided since I only work 2 days per week to dedicate a lot of my free time to learning a new language. I couldn't decide whether to learn Spanish or French, but being honest I find Spanish more interesting. I have also heard that Spanish sentence structure is more similar to English, whereas French sentence structure is more different (and maybe even a bit backwards).

I was hoping to find a friend that would like to be my study buddy but have had no such luck!

So I was hoping to find a Spanish speaker to maybe Skype with me, and have conversations as I progress through the subjects in my book.

So far I have only completed the introduction, but now I can greet people, ask names and say my own, say I do not understand something, ask the person to talk slower, ask what something means, ask if someone speaks English, and say that my Spanish is not very good.

Not a lot but I've only been learning for 2 days.

I'm using a simple book and CDs to learn from, I haven't read any reviews but I tried a Rosetta Stone demo and didn't learn anything except "el nino bebe agua" and "la nina bebe jugo". There were more sentences but I can't remember any of them! I don't even know if my grammar is correct with these two!

I'm going to Mallorca at the end of October so it will be very useful to know some Spanish for practical use on my holiday!
