petróleo -masculine noun (el), crude oil. Look up petróleo in the dictionary

Petróleo es una fuente de energía no renovable.
Oil is a non-renewable energy source.

Petróleo is not always petrol. Am I right? As you can also use petrol for gasolina.

Petrol or gas (in the States) is gasolina.
Petróleo is oil, guapísimo.

Americans don't usually use petrol; that's British. We use gas or gasoline.
