Translation of four sentences

I can probably guess closely about the exact translation of these but I am simply not sure.

1. Nunca se habían puesto de acuerdo para nada, excepto el comercio, y ciertamente nunca para la guerra.

2. Incendiaban cuanto hallaban a su paso.

3. El día anterior a la partida de los jóvenes apareció Maria a despedirse.

4. Prefirió no darle un mal rato a Regina.

Make your own attempt to tell the idea of each sentence, and we'll help you polish the translations.

1. They never agreed with anything, except the commerce, and certainly not the war.

2. They burned everything in their path. (Shouldn't it be: Incendiaban todo lo que hallaban a su paso.)

3. The day before the departure of the youths Maria came to say goodbye.

4. He preferred not to give a hard time to Regina.

Good job!

I only have comments on two of your sentences:

"Cuanto" works as a synonym of "todo lo que".
- Cuanto digas es inútil. No voy a escucharte. -> Todo lo que digas es inútil.
- Los asaltantes se llevaron cuanto pudieron. -> Todo lo que pudieron.
