Traducción de un texto
Hola!

Oh, so" I ended up dining alone" still means she did prepare the meal. That's so confusing... because the thing is that the text only states " I was going to prepare a good meal..." so in this case, should I then change the meaning of the sentence and write as if she has already done it? " El jueves pasado preparé una buena cena...." ? |

I think that "iba a preparar" given the context that the husband calls her 2 hours ahead, probably is fine. Instead of preparing "una buena cena", probably she changed her succulent menu, to one more "modest", given that he was not going to make it... (my 2 cents)
It all depends on what the original English meant, but that's how I perceive it. "El jueves pasado preparé una buena cena..." should be fine in any case, even if she did not finished the last touches of her cooking... (In cooking, preparation is probably a 60 if not a 80 percent of the work...)

Yep. I guess both would work. I wasnt sure because the text I translated from was " I was going to / thinking to prepare a good dinner" Oh and I guess the ending could also be instead of "Tuve que cenar sola" - "Terminé cenando sola" , what do you think? I think both are okay. I'd personally take the second one. (Although, if you ask me I'd preferred the husband to make it!)
