Why is "el" required in one sentence?
Hi, why is "el" required in the first sentence but not the second?
Las personas, el español y el inglés porque los idiomas son importantes Los idiomas español e inglés son importantes para mí porque inglés |

The reason that the article isn't used in the second sentence fragment is because both words are adjectives, modifying idiomas. The subject inglés, at the end of the fragment, requires the article.
