Very good. Some hints for correction below:
Quote:
Hoy es jueves el cuarto (1) de septiembre y mi hermano está viniendo (2) para una visita (3).
Él viene solo desde (4) su esposa murió *** (Definite article needed) año pasada (Check gender agreement --"año" is masculine, so it needs a masculine adjective).
(1) Dates in Spanish don't use ordinal numbers (except in some regions for the first day of the month), and if you say the name of the day, the definite article is placed before the day:

- Me voy de viaje el martes veintiséis de julio.
- Ayer fue (el) miércoles tres de septiembre. (<- The definite article is not necessary because ayer is specific enough, but it's not wrong to use it.)
- Mi papá nació el cinco de marzo de 1950.
- Tengo cita con el médico el diez de octubre.

(2) The formula "estar" + verb -"ando/iendo" describes an action that is happening right now.
- Estoy escribiendo.
- Estamos conversando.

If you say "está viniendo", then it means that he is right now driving or travelling to your place. If you want to say that he is going to come over, you need to use "ir" + a + infinitive verb:
- Voy a ir al parque hoy por la tarde.
- Mañana voy a comprar frutas.

(3) Although it would be understood in context, this is a calque from English. In Spanish, it's the person, more than the action what is priority. Let me suggest that you use expressions like "visitarme" or "hacerme una visita".

(4) "Desde" is a translation for "since" only when you are talking about a date that is reference for an event. But here, it's expressing the reason why your brother is visiting you alone.
- No he visto a mi hermano desde que me casé.
- Trabajo desde que tenía quince años.
