Yet

Could I use yet? (Does it make sense in idiomatic English?)

-This quality in the play presents the unavoidability of repeating things __ the impossibility of being the same and identical.

The sentence seems opaque in meaning, but if the fill-in-the-blank word is synonymous to with, then yet does not make sense here. Yet is a complicated word that can sometimes mean but. Example: "Sweeney Todd" is an amusing yet (or but) harrowing tale of revenge brought to the extreme.
