Saber is to know of something and how to do something - conocer is to be acquainted with somebody; e.g. you saber montar una bicicleta, conducir, nadar etc; but you conocer a Paco.
Conozco a Maria, y sé que es enfermera - I know Maria, and I know she's a nurse. Quote:
