My mom and little brother found this in a book they were reading. They asked me and my older brother what this sentence meant:

"Sit on a pin."


I wasn't sure if it actually had a meaning. I think it means just to sit on a pin.

Is it an idiom? If there is a meaning, what is it?

May be it refers to someone playing a joke on someone else and put a pin on the seat, so when the person sits he/she will be stung?

We need the context, not just the phrase. This phrase could be literal or figurative.

It might be a reference to being "on pins and needles", which means you're very anxious or excited about something.

ok let me get the book with it. then you can see what it means.

I can't find the book. I remember some of it....it's in book about a wolf's side of the story of the Three Little Pigs.

it's someting like this.....

"And your granny can sit on a pin!"

I don't think this is enough though. I will continue to look for the book.

Telling someone to sit on a pin is not very nice. There are worse ways to say the same thing, but it's rude at any rate.

Yeah, sounds like it's just a "cute" way of saying something mean. Reminds me of something the Fonz would say on Happy Days.
