Mover el cotarro

In context I think it means get things going, but cotarro is housing for the poor. So, I see no correlation.

I've never heard this expression, but for the examples I found in Google, it would mean that you have to make a major effort if you want a major change or an improvement.
So, if this implies you have to push your own house and put it in another place, you will do it.

Cotarro is a housing for the poor. "mover el cotarro" means "alborotar el cotarro" --> "alborotar el cortijo" (cortijo: landhouse) --> "to move the people" (literally "to agitate the poor people/the landhouse/the place"

examples

saludos
