Fósforo
This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for September 21, 2009
fósforo (masculine noun (el)) — match. Look up fósforo in the dictionary Tráete los fósforos para que prendamos la fogata. Bring the matches and we'll light the fire.

I know this is offtopic, but when I got the email it looked strange.
It looked like this: fósforo masculine noun (el), match Tráete los fósforos para que prendamos la fogata. Bring the matches and we'll light the fire. anyone else have it like that? It's no big deal but I don't know why it's like this Last edited by Jessica; September 22, 2009 at 02:54 PM. |

There is a traditional tale called The little match girl (La vendedora de fósforos) that I love. Very sad, though.

Hans Christian Andersen's classic... I used to cry a lot as a child when I read it. Here I've seen it translated as "La vendedora de cerillas" (even though in Mexico it's "cerillos", of course). Those must have been Spanish translations.
