I have never heared of chanchullo (coloquial), I think it's only used on MX right?
"Estafa", "timo", are the two I would use(first, estafa). They come from "estafar" and "timar", common verbs everywhere. "Engaño" can be too.

@Marsopa: "Scam" podría ser engaño, estafa, embuste, chisme, trampa, fraude... supongo que depende del contexto.
![]() ¿Chantaje? Sólo si "scam" es sinónimo de "blackmail". ![]() @ookami: Cierto, "chanchullo" es una palabra coloquial. No sé si sólo se usa en México.

In addition to what has already been mentioned, you can use tranza to mean scam in Mexico. I don't think it's used anywhere else. The verb is tranzar. This word is pretty versatile and can describe just about any type of illicit activity. You can even use ¿Qué tranza? as a greeting, like What's up?.
