Ser parco en palabras

 

An idiom is an expression whose meaning is not readily apparent based on the individual words in the expression. This forum is dedicated to discussing idioms and other sayings.

= laconic (Spartans, in Laconia, were famous for their brevity of speech)

So, you say, I´m very laconic ? In spanish we say " ser laconico"
IS there a saying with words ?

Pero una persona puede ser "parco en palabras" siempre. Un hermano mío es parco en palabras, "le tienes que sacar las palabras con pinzas" (otra expresión )

a person a few words
taciturn
laconic
quiet
all these usually describe if you are quiet by nature

If you are temporarily quiet, then the saying is : the cat's got your tongue
keeping mum

I've heard "to be short of words" when one has an incapability to communicate with words what they want.

I'm short of words to tell you how scared I was.

It was so beautiful, that I'm short of words to describe what it was like.




"Ser parco" is rather voluntary.
