I am currently (March 2022) a graduate student at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I am an avid reader in both Spanish and English (although for the past few years I have mostly read in Spanish), and I intend to obtain a Master’s Degree in Spanish Literature.
I currently teach Spanish for the Chicago Public Schools system, where I am also a certified Spanish?English interpreter/translator for the Office for Students with Disabilities.
I have previously worked as a Spanish?English court interpreter for the 19th Judicial Circuit in the State of Illinois and recently passed the written portion of the Federal Court Interpreter Certification Examination (FCICE). I am waiting to take the oral exam, which had been postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions. When they finally resumed offering the oral exam a couple of years later, I didn’t take it because I felt out of practice. However, I fully intend to take it in the future.
I am here to learn and to share what I have learned.
