Is there a name for a person that trains the gallos? A person that trains them for the owner?

I have been told that person is called "preparador".

For example yesterday I could to see a great cockfighting between two people in the street.

Is correct my sentence using the word cockfighting as an idiom?

No, but you can use catfight in a similar way. Like:

"Suzy lost her weave and Becky's earrings got ripped out in that catfight last night."

In case you were wondering...:D

CrOtALiTo March 23, 2009 04:41 PM

May you give me the translation to catfight.

I don't understand that sentence.

Poli. I got it your comment above.

Rusty March 23, 2009 06:46 PM

catfight = a fight between women

CrOtALiTo March 24, 2009 10:51 AM

Then Rusty. I can't use that sentence to say if there is a fight between mans.

I mean. My brother and my friend is fighting. But If I want use the phrase that you mentioned before.

I can say they are between catfight.

I hope you can understand me.

If you have doubts above my commentary in this post please you don't hesitate to ask me.

(I just noticed how old this post is, but it's slow at work so I'll comment anyway)

The argument, at least here in the States, is generally that human fighters (Boxers, wrestlers, martial arts, whatever) choose to participate, whereas in events like bull and cockfighting, the animals are forced to fight. For that reason, many people here think the later is much worse than the former.

poli March 24, 2009 11:04 AM

No. unless they are they seemed efeminate when they were fighting. Cat-fight is a sexist idiom.

CrOtALiTo March 24, 2009 11:31 AM

Someone can answer my questions that I did before.

Fazor March 24, 2009 11:43 AM

Again, Crotalito, a "catfight" is only used to describe a situation where one woman is fighting another woman.

"Did you see that catfight yesterday? Amanda really got the better of Shelly!" would be an example of it's use. However, it's not really a ... nice ... term. It's not a bad word, but tends to be used by males who enjoy the sight of two women fighting.

CrOtALiTo March 24, 2009 11:55 AM

I got it.

Then It's is not good choice for me.

I have understand each word wrote for you. But as I can say a fight between mans.

I have understood each word written by you. But, how can I say a fight between men?

Men have fights. They can be called all kinds of things, depending on the situation, hostility, etc..
Women have catfights. Women can also have a fight at different levels, but a catfight is when they are pulling hair, shredding clothes and scratching each other. Sound like any cats you know?

CrOtALiTo March 24, 2009 01:47 PM

I haven't idea about it.

But How I can say he's fighting for a job.

Just like that. If you mean he's competing against other people to get a job.
