Film
What word would one use for "film"?
...not a specific movie, i.e. una película, but the general form of media? Something close in terms of generality might be "the film industry", which is la industria cinematográfica, but that doesn't really help. e.g. "Gaming, film, and music are some of my interests." Answers are much appreciated! :) |
Película o film.
That's how we call a strip of film. Some might call it "cinta" |
As a general form of media, "film" is often translated as "cine".

The accent mark used in 'interés' is there to signal that the final syllable is stressed instead of the usual second-to-last syllable. When you add the plural ending, you're introducing another syllable at the end. This new final syllable isn't stressed. The second-to-last syllable is. Since this is "normal" for a word that ends in the consonant 's', no accent mark is needed.

Adding to Rusty's answer, you may find this thread useful to know the rules for written accents. :)
