Computer in Spanish
Can you tell me the word Computer in Spanish.
|
In Spain, ordenador. We also use pc (pe cé) as a shorter word. And laptop, (ordenador) portátil.
I think in Latin America they use computadora. |
|
I use the (Computadora)

my computer is in my house and my laptop I use it wherever. en frances se dice ordinateur. I think so,. ^_^ |
¿Se puede llamar un laptop "una computadora"?
(In English, my laptop IS a computer, but a computer isn't always a laptop...) |
Yes. "Una laptop" is "una computadora portátil". "Una desktop" is "una computadora de escritorio".
|
Cool! Thanks! :)

I already knew about the feminine "laptop" (from my Spanish learning software). I am just messing up articles and pronouns and agreements lately..... (Sigh....)

Let me tell you this. I use both, computador and computadora, and I think, both are used in South America. The way I see it, you used the article correctly, and you know the difference between computador and computadora. So why do you worry so much. :) |
It's not worry so much as perfectionism!! :)

Interestingly, I am aware of the research that says that you should study something in the evening before going to bed because your subconscience will continue to process it while you sleep and you actually learn it better that way. I have been SUPER busy the past two weeks and haven't had a lot of time to be working on my Spanish, but have found that if I read a little Tomisimo and watch a little Telemundo before I go to bed my learning overall is still advancing. How cool is that!?

@Hernán: I find quite unkind your effort to ruin my "mexicanizing" Luanita's Spanish. :impatient: @Lou Ann: Hernán is right... I tend to forget about regional variations. :duh: |
Malila- mexicanize my Spanish all you want. But remember that my Peruvian, Salvadoran, & Uruguayan friends & students are applying equal pressure. :) There is a good possibility that I will be going to Peru & Uruguay this summer, too, which may further spoil your efforts. :)
