Stand for and stand with

What is the difference between stand for and stand with?

Give me some examples, please.

Re: Stand for and stand with

I'll try to give some quick examples

to stand for

- to represent, to mean, representar, significar
"What does ETA stand for?" "ETA stands for estimated time of arrival".
What does the little red mark stand for? It means the student arrived late for class.

- ser un candidato (político)
He stood for Parliament. - Se ofreció para Parlamento. (UK)
He ran for Parliament. - Se ofreció para Parlamento. (US)

- to support, apoyar, defender
He stands (up) for children's rights - El apoya los derechos de los niños
He stands (up) for liberty - Defiende la libertad
She stands (up) for the right to vote - Cree en el derecho de votar/ Habla por el derecho de votar

- aguantar, to put up with
I won't stand for that - No permitiré que se haga eso

to stand with

I'll stand with you - Me pararé a tu lado/Estaré parado contigo/Me pondré de pie contigo

to stand with doesn't really have all the idiomatic meanings that "to stand for" has.
