Hi everyone,
I am unsure which spanish translation of 'shot' that I should use, in the following context:

'He was shot twice in the chest'.

disparo = gunshot

Although this phrase is correct, sounds a bit weird, at least in Mexico it's not commonly heard.
I'd say: "Le dispararon dos veces en el pecho" instead.

@Poli: that kind of passive voice is not common and sounds awkward in Spanish.

Another possibility, apart from alx proposal: "Recibió dos disparos en el pecho."

Yes, those two translations sound better to me too. Mine was a direct translation, and as we all know direct translations can sound awkward.

A third translation:
Recibió dos balazos en el pecho (en lugar de disparos)--tiene más sentido.

You're right, Poli. "Balazos" and "tiros" can be used instead of "disparos". :)

In this case your appreciation is completely correct.
