Una discusión fuerte

Una discusión fuerte

Tuvimos una discusión tan fuerte que...
We had such a big argument that...

May I say "a strong discussion" instead?

Thanks. :)

Not really, no. You could say:

such a big row
such a bust-up
such a heated discussion
.

Thanks. :)

I'll try to remember, 'big argument' could be understood in Spanish as "un buen argumento", nothing to do with its meaning. :)

Usamos heated discussion cuando vds usan discusión fuerte.

I think that some people use the word "discussion" with a verbal inflection that "tongue-in-cheek" implies an argument. Some people will say "My husband I had a discussion about that..." and the way it is said, it is implied that it was an argument.

.... it led to an interesting discussion involving domestic missiles. :D

"An altercate" can be used too.

They're not *exactly* synonymous. An "altercation" can be verbal or physical. We use that word in teaching when we write up discipline problems. We have to distinguish.

"Argument" is always verbal.

Thanks. :)
