"I Hope" followed by an event in the past

Are either of the following a correct way to say:

I hope your son took you out to eat for your birthday yesterday.

Espero que/Ojalá que tu hijo te haya llevado a comer por tu cumpleaños ayer.

Espero que/Ojalá que tu hijo te llevara a comer por tu cumpleaños ayer.

If both are correct, is "te haya llevado" or "te llevara" preferred?

If neither is correct, should I have used the preterite?

Any input with an explanation and/or grammar rule is appreciated.

"Te haya llevado" is the correct grammar. The event should/would have happened in the past.
"Te llevara" might be said by someone trying to sound more educated, and it would be understood in context, but it's not the best choice.
The tense agreement would be "esperaba que tu hijo te llevara a comer", which would mean that there was a possibility I was expecting, but that did not happen.
