This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for March 22, 2009
franquicia (feminine noun (la)) — franchise, allowance, exemption. Look up franquicia in the dictionary Hay franquicias de McDonald's en casi cada país del mundo. There are McDonald's franchises in just about every country in the world.

I think franquicia may refer to insurance deductibles, but almost everybody (at least Latinos use deducible)
