Si los estúpidos volasen de se vería el sol

It this a common phrase or just a writer's comment.

It is/was common to say "Si los tontos volaran, pasaría nublado."

A todo esto, el tuyo debiera terminar en "...volasen no se vería el sol"

The original sentence doesn't make sense with "de"... it may well be "...dejaría de verse el sol" or, as Chileno proposed, "...no se vería el sol".

It's not an idiom or a common expression, but it's clear enough to be understood everywhere, I think.
