Hola! Me llamo Lydia, estoy estudiante de espanol y vivo en Irlanda... tenía que mudarme a España en septiembre para estudiar, pero ya no estoy seguro donde exactamente... Evidentemente mi español no es bueno, es probablemente terrible, por tanto la idea de estar en España con español terrible me tiene muy preocupado! Espero que este forum sea de ayuda, y quizás puedo ser de ayuda para alguien con inglés...?

Don't worry for your level in the Spanish, everyone cross for that period during their learning, thereby you should to practice more here with us, if you enough time in your home, you take a book and read everything you can red in that moment and later you can do a personal list where are listed all the new world that you learnt during you reading.

Not criticising - just clarifying the rule for proper and common nouns with the indefinite articlle (ie 'un/a') with common and proper nouns plus with and without a qualififying adjective.

Without an adjective the 'un' is omitted, so it's -
Pepe es camarero
Juana es azafata

Whereas with an adjective it's -
Félix es un mecánico hábil
Mercedes es una abogada lista.

I've probably made it seem more complicated than it is, but re-read it a couple of times and it should make sense!

The same goes for soy as well
eg soy técnico, ¡tambien soy una guitarista incompetente!

@Sancho: "estoy estudiante" is not right.
Rusty has corrected it as "soy estudiante".

Lydia could have also said "estoy estudiando español".

Perhaps I should also tell you my name's not Lydia in case you misunderstand that as well.
