As it goes on

How would one say "as it goes on" or "as time passes"? For example, how would I say "As the poem goes on, the stanzas get shorter"? Or "As time passes, the world becomes better"?

Thanks a bunch!

As the poem goes on = Conforme/Acorde avanza el poema.
As time passes = Conforme/Acorde pasa el tiempo.
